Family Scouting is a way for the entire family to enjoy the fun and challenge of Cub Scouting together. A Cub Scout Pack is divided into Dens - groups of children in the same grade. It is in the Den that the Cub Scout does most of their adventures and meetings, but all the Dens come together as a Pack once a month for a Scouting celebration.

At Pack 461, we have Dens made up of girls and boys. Each Den meets on their own under the guidance of the Den Leader. A Den usually meets once or twice a month. A meeting could be at a park, Scout House or an outing to a Fire Station or museum. Parents should do their best to participate in their child's scouting experience and actively assist during Den and Pack meetings.

Once a month our Dens come together as a Pack and meet to celebrate and learn as a community. Pack meetings usually consist of an opening activity, food and drinks, flag ceremony, and some type of theme. The Pack meeting is led by the Cubmaster. Some of our yearly traditions include Pinewood Derby, Bearnival, Blue & Gold, and Bridging Ceremony at La Ballona Creek. Pack 461 usually meets the third Thursday of the month at Farragut Elementary School.

Lion Den (Kinder)

Each Lion joins the den with their Adult Partner, who accompanies the Lion at all den and pack events. The Lion program encourages boys and girls to learn and explore through hands-on, high-energy activities. The Lion badge is earned by completing five adventures, which are accomplished during the den meetings and outings. When an adventure is completed, the youth receives a belt loop to add to their cub scout belt.

Tiger Den (1st Grade)

Each Tiger joins the pack together with their Adult Partner who accompanies the Tiger at all den and pack events.  As the Tiger Cub finishes each of the required adventures they are awarded the adventure loop for that adventure, which is proudly displayed on the belt of the Cub Scout uniform.  When a Cub Scout has earned all the required adventure loops, the Tiger badge is awarded at the annual Blue & Gold Banquet or a pack meeting.

Arrow of Light Den (5th Grade)

Arrow of Light is the highest rank in Cub Scouting, and earning it prepares a Webelos Scout to move up to Scouts BSA and begin their path to earning scouting's highest honor: the rank of Eagle. Scouts must complete four required adventures and three elective adventures to earn the Arrow of Light rank. For each adventure a scout completes, they receive a pin to wear on the Webelos colors or hat. The Arrow of Light badge is the only Cub Scout badge that can be worn on the Boy Scout uniform when a scout graduates into a troop.
